Nintendo Entertainment System

Super Mario Land
Super Mario Almost where Mario started out. This was the sequel to the static arcade Mario Brothers and proved a major hit.
Still one of the all-time classic platform games and re-issued plenty of times on different machines.
Control Mario on his quest to save the Princess by jumping on mushroom creatures and collecting coins.
So easy to play even a 3 year old could do it.

Splatter House
Splatter House Inspired by Friday the 13th and Michael Jackson's Thriller, dash through screens of zombies and undead things hacking them to bits with your cleaver whilst wearing an ice-hockey mask.
Also released in the arcades and on the SNES, amongst other formats, this stands as the best version still due to its simplicity and playability.
Not one for your Granny.

Metroid
Metroid The original and first outing for Samus, another of Nintendo's long running characters.
Turrican copied all its ideas from this game and made them better.
Strange cyborg-type person running about killing enemies with its laser and jumping about in a ball-shape.
This effort is OK but lacks a certain coolness that the Turrican games possessed.
Of course, you can now get Metriod Prime on the Gamecube which is the bee's knees.

Final Fantasy
Final Fantasy The origin of the Fantasy series which has now hit double figures on the Playstation 2.
These games are very long-winded and have to be played for years to complete. Unless your impatient, like me, and play for 5 minutes then give up.
Take your 4 heroes on various quests across a huge world map encountering random battles with various creatures.
The music is nice but does irritate after a while and the graphics are just what's needed.

Kirby's Adventure
Kirby This is the business. Cutesy platforming action - it's what Nintendo's good at.
Another of Nintendo's major characters and around long before those pesky Pokemon.
Kirby can suck the enemies then spit, oo-er. He/she can also float with a lungful and do super skids.
Great bonus games inbetween levels and top graphics and sounds.
