Gameboy Advance

Tekken Advance
Tekken The supposedly "King of Fighters" from the Playstation gets amazingly converted to the little handheld machine.
Just like the original, you can pull off a myriad of moves from just simple button bashing.
The whole "almost-3D" environment spins about as you kick, punch and collapse in agony.
An extraordinary feat which really pushes the Advance to its limits showing off just what can be achieved.
Expect to get athritis in your thumbs.

Robot Wars : Advanced Destruction
Robot Wars This game is suprisingly quite good but very limited and easy.
Just like the TV show, you battle other robots in the arena using your available weapons, ie. axe, flipper, saw, flamer. You can also ram your opponents into the house robot zones or the pit.
So easy I even won using Diotor which never won anything in the series.
Good fun though and a good zooming cam for close action.

V Rally 3
V Rally This might as well have been called Colin McRae Rally 'cos it's just the same.
Pick your car, race around various tracks in various countries, skidding about all over. Repair your car or upgrade the parts, race again.
Good use of graphics creates a real 3D feel to the game with nice scenery to gawp at. Sound effects are a little shoddy but gameplay makes up for that more than enough.

Crash Bandicoot - The Huge Adventure
Crash Bandicoot A big hit on the Playstation now becomes a hit on the Advance.
Brilliant cartoon graphics and sound effects match its bigger cousin anyday.
Some levels are even in 3D (see screenshot) where you are chased by giant yeti whilst riding on little polar bear.
Game starts of nice and easy and gradually progresses in difficulty.
One of the finest platform capers on a hand-held console.

Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 3
Tony Hawks 3 Just like Tony Hawk's 2.
Looks a little boring from the screenshots but once you start playing you get addicted.
Pull off an amazing amount of stunts from simple button bashing to open up further levels in different locations.
Not quite the 3D brilliance of the Gamecube or Playstation 2 versions but a good isometric conversion.
Start saving your pennies 'cos once you start playing this you'll want to invest in a skateboard and attempt the stunts in reality.

Spiderman : The Movie
Spiderman The Movie Like the movie - good, slick fun.
Spiderman games have always been a little annoying, not being able to do half the stunts Spidey does. Until now.
Climb walls, swing on web, use Spidey sense, beat-up enemies, throw webbing at them, spin around architecture, etc.
And it feels so good when you do it.
Plenty of surroundings to interact with and villains to kill, hostages to save.
A solid attempt at creating a 2D platform version of the superior 3D Playstation 2/PC/Gamecube/XBox version.

Star Wars Episode 2 : Attack of the Clones
Star Wars A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away is exactly where this game should have stayed.
Emulating the movie exactly, this cheaply produced special effects extravaganza is one big dollop of steaming dogs eggs.
By Gods, episode 1 was a pile of dung but episode 2 was bigger in every department - a bigger pile of dung.
This game has you meandering in a relaxed Jedi way through various parts of the movie storyline with very little to do except wave your lightsaber and deflect the odd laser bolt.
Nice music though.

Atari Anniversary Advance
Atari Classics A fine collection of some of Atari's early arcade efforts including Battlezone, Tempest, Missile Command, Asteroids and Super Breakout.
All games look arcade-perfect, except for the lack of huge wooden cabinet with glass TV screen.
Value for money as you are not obliged to keep entering another 10p to keep going.

CT Special Forces
CT Special Forces Platforming army action as you take to covert operations involving gunning the enemy down and jumping around various landscapes.
A bit like Metal Slug but better.
This game is amazingly good for its simplicity. Run, duck and shoot. That's all you really need to do. Try out machine gun fire or bombs for a laugh. Drop into dug-outs for cover or shoot explosive barrels for fun.
The graphics are all nicely animated and the sound is spot on.
Go buy now - it has a sequel too so this first game may be in the cheap racks.

Ballistic : Ecks vs Sever
Ballistic First-person shooter with the option of being male or female spy, Ecks or Sever.
Slick 3D action originally released to coincide with Doom as direct competition. If you didn't buy Doom you bought this.
And what a winner this is.
Play Ecks and you get the sniper-scope straight away so you can pick off guards at a distance using the great zooming effects.
Plays very similar to most first-person games but is tops for the little hand-held with graphics that don't look like a dog's arse, ie. Doom.
Also made into a shite movie starring Antonio Banderas and Lucy Liu.
